When to Call an Emergency Plumber
A visit from your plumber isn’t normally something you plan for, especially when an emergency happens in your home. It never pays to hit the pause button on fixing plumbing issues. You’ll need to find an emergency plumber ASAP if one of the following situations occurs in your home:
Busted Pipe. When a pipe bursts, you’ll probably realize it immediately because of the large amount of water pouring into your home. Call your Horizon plumber immediately if this happens. Then clear any items that could be damaged out of the way to minimize possible damage.
During the winter, the water in your pipes can freeze, expand and cause your pipes to crack. The first hint that this has happened is if water suddenly stops flowing out of your faucets in particularly cold climates. While you may not see water immediately in your home, you should call Horizon Services as soon as you notice a problem. Do not try to heat the pipes yourself to melt the water—your plumber will have the correct tools to create a long-term solution.
Clogged Drain. Sometimes you’ll experience a clogged drain in your home and won’t give it much thought. Perhaps your shower drain simply needs excess hair removed, or maybe you have a much bigger problem on your hands. If you can’t immediately improve the backup, the best solution is to call Horizon to get an emergency plumber to your home quickly. They will have the right tools to scope your drain and are able to get a better view of the actual problem that you aren’t able to see.
Overflowing Toilet. It happens when you’re least expecting it. Suddenly, your toilet is overflowing and you’re at a loss of what to do. First, immediately shut off the water supply valve to your toilet. Then call a Horizon emergency plumber to take a closer look at the issue, resolve it and safely clean up the water.
Decreasing water pressure. If the water pressure in your showers and sinks starts slowing their flow, there could be something wrong with the pipes in your home. Over time, pipes can corrode and the width of where your water flows can decrease. This means less water will make it to you. Call your plumber as soon as you start to notice this as a problem. While your water tank may just need a simple adjustment, it could also mean that you’ll need to replace some of the pipes in your home.
Poor water quality. If your water comes out of the drain with a rusty tint, it’s possible that there are issues going on with your water heater. Many heaters have rods that consist of steel and are covered with magnesium, zinc or aluminum which over time can start to attract bacteria. Over time, this can start to affect the quality of your water. Once you notice a change in your home’s water quality, call Horizon immediately. Our highly-trained emergency plumbers can quickly rectify the problem.
